Take a marquee to a family farm, a gorgeous rural village, West Scrafton, in the heart of the North Yorkshire Dales, not far from Leyburn, and add lots of homemade touches, big hearted family effort and cover in glorious August sunshine and the results are one of the most magical Weddings of the year.
I first met Danil & Hannah (and Hannah’s lovely family) at her family farm earlier in the year for the couple’s pre wedding shoot when we managed to capture some hazy summer evening images and started to get an inkling of how wonderful this wedding was going to be. When the discussions included the afternoon teas, the brides sister making the cake, snuggly sofas & cosy blankets, fire pits and hay bales the scene was beginning to set.
Danil & Hannah were full of positive emotions, dancing and smiles throughout the day which seemed like a dream throughout the day. Starting at the same historic village church that the bride’s parents married in through to when we left them lighting up the dale long into the evening. Hannah wore a Chotronette dress with floral slipper shoes and the bouquet and flowers were supplied by the Flower House Garforth.
The timings of the day meant that we could capture the golden light as the sun was setting, and by capture I mean, were spectators to Danil & Hannah’s dancing in the twilight to the back drop off the setting sun over the valley side, perhaps better than any indoor dance floor. This wasn’t the couples first dance, just celebrating love in their style!
The fabulous Chequered band started the more formal dancing party, the fire pits were lit and the celebrations got under way. As wed rove out of the valley, the marquee was shining brightly and the faint sound of music drifted across the dale. It truly was a magical wedding and we are so honoured that Danil & Hannah chose us to share it with them.
